Pet insurance for older cats
Cover to keep older cats feline great
Take care of your moggy as they get more mature with our insurance for older cats. Why do I need pet insurance for an older cat?
Your older cat is a loving, and likely lifelong companion. And just like a human, it’s only natural that they’ll need more medical care and attention as they age.
So when your older cat inevitably gets ill, has a dental issue, or injures themselves, having older cat insurance in place to help cover costs can be a real help. Not all insurance for senior cats is created equal though. Many providers won’t cover cats over a certain age (usually eight years old and over), will exclude pre-existing conditions and add certain limits for older felines.
At ManyPets we don’t think that’s fair. We love pets of all ages, so we don’t have any upper age limits on our cat insurance policies – and we’ll even cover pre-existing conditions that have been free from signs, symptoms treatment, medication or advice for two years.
What should I look out for with pet insurance for older cats?
When it comes to pet insurance for older cats, there’s a few things you need to bear in mind. First of all, premiums for senior cat insurance will be more expensive than for younger cats, and will likely increase every year. This is because they’re at higher risk of developing health issues and needing vet care.
Here are a few more things to check your policy details for:
Cover for pre-existing conditions. At ManyPets we’ll cover a condition if it’s been free from signs, symptoms, treatment, medication or advice for two years. For anything within that time, there’s our Pre-existing policy.
Cover for cats aged eight or over. We don’t have any upper age limits on our cat insurance policies – though you'll pay a 20% co-payment when your cat turns nine.
Dental cover. Dental issues can be a real problem for older cats. That’s why all of our older cat insurance policies cover dental accidents and our Complete policy can cover dental illness too.
Co-payments. That’s a percentage of any claim amount that you’ll need to pay yourself after your annual excess. When your cat turns nine at ManyPets you’ll have a 20% co-payment.

Why is older cat insurance more expensive?
Even though older cats can be as lively and inquisitive as any other pet, they’re still more likely to develop health issues, including kidney and blood pressure problems, arthritis, and diabetes.
Those issues could require regular medical care, which means their insurance premiums are typically higher than those for younger pets.
